are you deep?

1 Samuel 16:7, “God judges persons differently than humans do.  Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”

Where does God look?? God looks deep.  And deep beauty is the kind of beauty that shines from the inside out. This kind of beauty can’t be painted on, washed off, or surgically removed.  Its the beauty of being spiritually clean and chaste!

Our outward appearance is a reflection of what we are on the inside, and our lives should reflect that which we seek.  God doesn’t care about our newest hairstyle or our skin color, but He does care about our heart and His inner radiance can make us truly beautiful!

Did you know that according to a 1997 Body Shop International campaign, there are 3 billion women who don’t look like supermodels and 8 who do?  (  I think I know which category I fall into.  And even with this knowledge, we still seek out the newest and best products so we can become more ‘perfect’ in this imperfect world.

Here’s my point….although we know that God created each of us with true beauty in His eyes, we are still so vulnerable to the images that fill our every waking minute!  How the heck did this get all twisted???  We complain about our hair and our thighs, and yet we are still idealizing our perception of beauty.  We think, “If only I looked like that actress on tv, then I would feel good about myself.”

The truth is that there will always be someone taller than you, thinner than you, prettier than you…But (and here’s the best part)  there is only one you.  You are unique.  God created you with your unique personality and your own true gifts – all of which, when smoooshed up together, make you beautiful in a way that gives off an air of confidence and dignity.

John 15:16 says, “You didn’t choose me, remember, I chose you and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil.” (msg)  We are chosen!  And we are beautiful because God made us that way, so believe it!  We are a divinely hand-sculpted, finger-printed, God breathed BEAUTIFUL person!  And He loves us  with all our imperfections…………………  PHEW!!!!
