ok….time for goals…

New Year.  New You!

But wait…..do MY goals equal God’s plan?  Have I even considered that God may have a different direction for my life?  Yikes!  What do I do now??

We are all busy people.  Each morning we hit the ground running, whether you are a busy homemaker with children still in or out of the home, or a busy executive heading off to your job.  We all have responsibilities and at some time of the day we might say to ourselves — “I’ll never be able to read my bible or have a prayer time with all the things I have to do!”  But this is where we are wrong!

John 15:5, “Without me, you can do nothing.”

Isaiah 40:31 says that with Him we can “mount up with wings like eagles”!!  With all the pressures and responsibilities that meet us each day, we have to be willing to wait on the Lord.

Everyone is different and everyone has their own times to sit and pray.  But let’s talk to those who haven’t yet found that perfect time.

Psalm 63:1 says, “O God, You are my God; early will I see You; my soul thirsts for You.”

This is an easy task if you desire earnestly to listen and talk to God.  Our first thought when we open our eyes should be on God.  This small window of time before the sun rises, before everyone begins to compete for our time and energy is the best time to spend alone with God.  Begin when all is quiet and before the day starts.  Talk to God and thank Him for another day!  He’s giving us another chance to commit ourselves to Him! Another do-over!  Prayer is a privilege, a responsibility and our duty as a christian!  It can be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or more.  THIS IS HOW A PASSION IS FORMED.  We just have to make the decision to begin and be committed to faithfully spend some time with Him.

GET IN THE WORD!

Very few of us will miss a meal.  But how many of us will miss a day…or many days of reading His Word?  Job 23:12 says “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food”!  Wow!  Here is a man that has lost everything, yet he still cherished God’s Word more than his food.  We have to be committed to read the Bible and to ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Word to our soul.  Tell Him that you need understanding and guidance to get through the scriptures.

When you “tune in” to God, early in the morning, you will find your “tone” with your mate or your children,  is a little sweeter after you have spent time in his peaceful presence. Your day will take on a whole new flavor when you’ve read God’s Word and spent time in prayer.

Once we have a created this time alone with Him, we will be able to chart out our goals for the year with Him in mind.  Life is too short and too precious to be wasted on anything that does not help you to live out God’s plan and purposes for your life.

So before you start writing down all YOUR goals..be sure that they line up with His goals….and life will be sweeter than the year before….
