tiny steps towards change…

Physicist, William Pollard once said, “Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement.”

If you think about it, we all want to change something.  Physical changes could mean, “If only I were taller…skinnier….smarter…”  Spiritual changes might be, “If only I could pray longer….or could witness without the fear of rejection…or If only I weren’t so critical.”

We all dream of being something different or better than we are today.  And sometimes it just seems like even though we are trying our hardest, nothing is happening!

Yes, change is difficult, and sometimes it is very slow in coming.  Very few of us go through the change process without struggle or some personal pain.  (Read:  No pain, no gain)

The good news is that God never changes!  Check it out!

  • 1 Samuel 15:29 “He who is the glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man, that He should change His mind.”
  • Malachi 3:6 “I the Lord do not change.”
  • James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows”
  • Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
And that is just a few promises we have from our Lord!  God is always wise, always sovereign, always holy, always just.  Whatever God is….He always is.
As a christian, I should always be striving for change…..to be more like Jesus and to keep walking in the direction He is taking me.  Tiny steps.  One foot in front of the other.  And as we are walking, God will change the terrain in front of you, but until then…..keep walking.
So what does all that mean?
I am thankful that I can change…..and I am thankful that God will not!!

in a little while….

One day our dream will come true….

One day there will be no tears…..no sadness…..no fear…..and no pain.

Philippians 3:20-21  “But our citizenship is in heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.”

You might be wondering why you are still here, how your ‘affliction’ is meaningful to others.  You might feel as if you are a burden to others, but guess what?  God thinks the opposite.  He thinks it is necessary that others take care of you and you have no idea how much you are doing for their spiritual well being.  You need to endure not only for the benefit of others, but for the purpose of teaching….your life is like a huge blackboard that God is using to teach us about Himself.

You have a glorious future awaiting in Heaven if you have asked Jesus into your heart.  Not sure about your relationship with God?  Pray this simple prayer with me:  Lord Jesus, I reallize that I have lived my life separated from you.  Please come into my life, my heart, my mind and my spirit.  Make me the person YOU want me to be and forgive me of my sins.  Today I want to follow you.

Now sit back and enjoy Amy Grant’s beautiful song about going home…

son-ripened fruit

My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be My disciples. John 15:8, HCSB

You may be a brand-new Christian, or perhaps you’ve known Jesus for years. Regardless, it should be obvious to others that you belong to Jesus. He said that when people look at you, they should see evidence of God at work.
What kind of evidence? Jesus called it “fruit.”

When you put others first instead of yourself, that’s fruit.

When you get rid of an ungodly habit and seek to live a pure life, that’s fruit.

When you refuse to gossip but choose instead to build up others, that’s fruit.

When you control your temper, even when others are losing theirs, that’s fruit.

When you forgive someone who hurt you, that’s fruit.

The types of fruit are endless.
God doesn’t expect you to produce all this fruit on your own. In fact, Jesus said you’re not capable (apart from him) of living a life that glorifies God. Rather, he wants to live through you, as a way to show others that he is alive and powerful.
In fact, the only way to keep Christ from producing fruit in your life is to resist what he’s trying to do in you. If, on the other hand, you cooperate with all Christ is doing in you, you’ll see amazing things taking place in your life.
Think back to when you first became a Christian. Are you the same person you were then, or have you allowed God to produce fruit in your life as a testimony to his greatness?

in the beginning…

If we were all completely honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that creation is impossible to understand intellectually.  Our minds are not able to go that far….we are restricted by our own humanity.

Something from nothing….it’s just seems incomprehensible.

Thankfully, our loving God knew it would be difficult for us to understand, so He left us a written record of all that took place.  The Holy Bible.

Creation is the end result of the Creator.  Take time to read His Word for yourself.  There are many that say they don’t believe, but have they read His Word?  Trust me….with an open heart and a willingness to learn, the more you know about God, the more you want to know.
