Discounts for seniors? Count me in!

Black-Friday-Shopping-and-Discounts

NOTHING IS MORE QUIET THAN THE SOUND OF HAIR GOING GRAY ~ Ashley Brilliant

It’s inevitable.  We will all get older, some of us with a little more gray than others.

But the journey doesn’t have to be painful in the pocket!  There are discounts out there, baby!  Great discounts!

Don’t expect the little 15 year old behind the counter to figure out your age… ASK!  Stand proud!  You’ve EARNED it!!

(before you get all up in the cashiers face, verify with customer service that these ages and dates still apply, some stores are locally owned and may have a different date or policy.  Now get out there!)

Free Prescription Drug Cards (via)

A number of companies offer free prescription drug cards that can save you up to 75% at the pharmacy. There’s usually no eligibility requirement – you essentially get a pre-negotiated discount in exchange for bringing your business to select pharmacies. Here’s one free pharmacy prescription discount card that gets our stamp of approval.

Museum Admissions

Many museums and cultural attractions offer admission that’s free for seniors. And even if it’s not free, almost all offer big discounts for people over 65. Make it a habit to ask for your senior citizen discount when you’re buying tickets!

You just have to ask!  Check out the local retailers in your area!  And check out these great websites:

  1. Ok, so first of all let me just say that I’m pretty excited that I don’t quite YET qualify for most of these. (Although I’m married to an old dude who gets MOST of them, being 55 and all)

But I find it a little irksome that BANANA REPUBLIC offers a senior discount to people over 50? Since when did 50 = senior citizen?

And worse yet — I recently bought a blouse there and paid full price! BUT… could it be that I wasn’t given the discount because the young thing at the checkout didn’t think I was OLD ENOUGH for the discount? Hmm…

Yes, I choose to believe THAT.

  2. I had absolutely no idea that most of these businesses offered senior discounts! I’m really surprised, Sandi. This is a wonderful list. 🙂
