  1. Oh great, another blog I have to follow… JK – this one is AWESOME! Gosh, I go round and round with myself over affect/effect. And one of my pet peeves is the misuse of myself. UGH, when I worked full time I heard people say that ALL THE TIME, and the managers were the worst!!

That was way back in the day when I was a professional who worked in an office for real $$, as opposed to what I do now, which is… I’m not real sure but I haven’t seen a paycheck in years…

    1. The one that drives me crazy is “these ones”…..next time you go to the store and ask the clerk if they have something in stock, see if he/she says, ‘Well, we don’t have that, but we have these ones..” It’s going to drive me mad….. haha!!!

The mistake that I frequently get on my students’ papers that cracks me up the most is “defiantly” for “definitely.” This is what happens when people get too much English through their ears and not enough through their eyes…

  3. These are really very basic. It seems that no one really cares. I see these errors every day even in major news sites.

Editing or even proof reading no longer exists. Even sites like CNN, CBS, and OMFG, BBC are contributing to the “Dumbing down of America.”

My wife and I are cracking up over this little ditty, literally. lol Personally, I strongly dislike axe. ie, “axe one a question” To which I like to reply, “you can try but, I’ve been known to assault wielding maniacs” 😉
