using our big mouth…

Did you know that over 150 times in the Book of Proverbs, the subject is your lips, tongue or mouth?  Our words are so very important.  In fact, in the Book of Genesis we can see that when God wanted something material created, He spoke!  Over and over in Genesis God is creating and speaking the universe into existence!  He doesn’t wave His hand.  He doesn’t twitch His nose, like Bewitched…He spoke the material world into existence.  He speaks….and things are.

We can connect ourselves to God with our mouths and with our words!

Psalm 100:1-5 “Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise;  give thanks to Him and praise His name.  For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”

God is giving us clear instruction for coming into the presence of God!   He says to ‘come into His presence with singing, to enter His gates with thanksgiving, and to enter His courts with praise!  All these things are done with our words.

Another way to connect with God is through prayer.  Even very simple prayers, offered from a sincere heart, will connect you to God. I believe that sincere “praisers” (could this be a new word?) always get the Lord’s attention!

The bible also tells us to ‘pray without ceasing’ (I Thess. 5:17).  This will keep us connected, or plugged into, God all day long!  You know, where we can hear His voice and feel His peace.

And here’s good news!  We don’t have to wait for a Sunday service to connect with God!’  We can enter through the gates of praise in our own private time with the Lord.

So why not set aside a period of time today — and every day — just to worship and praise Him?  It’s easy!  Just open your big mouth….
