ooooooh, yummy!!

I found a yummy, yummy breakfast idea!  Its called Savory Sausage Breakfast Rolls and it’s made with our friend, Jimmy Dean, sausage.

Ok, he’s not really my friend, but if he lived next door to me, I would definitely say, “hi, or hey, is that your trash?”, soo……

It’s a very easy recipe and it goes a little like this:

INGREDIENTS:

1 11 oz. can refrigerated French bread dough

2 Tbls. butter, melted

2 tsp. sage

1/4 tsp. salt (or to taste)

8 oz. Jimmy Dean sausage crumbles, cooked

1/4 c.  shredded Gruyere cheese

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Find lengthwise seam in dough.  Beginning at seam, gently unroll dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.  Brush w/butter, leaving a 1/2 inch border.  Combine sage, salt and sausage.  Sprinkle sausage mixture evenly over dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border, top with cheese.

Starting with a long side, roll dough up, jelly-roll fashion, press seam to seal (do not seal ends of roll).  Cut 1 (1/2 inch thick) crosswise slice from each end, discard.  Slice roll crosswise into 12, 1/2 inch pieces.  Arrange in a 13×9 inch casserole dish coated with cooking spray.

Bake for 28-30 minutes or until golden!

Hmmm…..looks like one is missing…..(oopsy!) They come out like a cinnamon roll, but these have yummy sausage and cheese inside!!  They are super easy and taste really good.

Jimmy Dean has come out with a package of cooked Turkey Sausage Crumbles.  It’s ridiculously priced (yet I naturally bought them) and it made it easy to assemble.  You could also buy regular sausage and cook it first, drain it of all fat and then sprinkle it on the dough…..but this was just a bit easier.  Either way would be great, yet one would involve a bigger mess.  You can also mix up the cheese. Try monterey jack or a sharp cheddar!  I just happen to be a fan of Gruyere … huge fan.
