Romans 12:1 “Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering.” (MSG)
Surrender. It is actually difficult and easy both at the same time. Some people do desire to do something meaningful for God, but to totally surrender? That causes problems with our control issues. We think that our problems need to be BIG problems for God to take interest in us. But God wants to meet us in our everyday challenges.
We simply cannot fulfill God’s greatest purpose for us without surrendering our life and our will to Him. It is an intentional, daily response to the Holy Spirit, who lives in us. Surrender means we let go of everything that takes a higher priority than God. OUCH. Things we hold on tightly…like our success, our talents, our children….OUCHIE!!! The Holy Spirit will always, in one way or another, nudge you and prompt you to surrender your “thing” and will also give you the opportunity to respond!
Your nudge might be through a friend, or a scripture (see? this is why we need to be in the Word!) or even a persistent thought. We have to be ready and we have to be obedient.
Surrender is a huge challenge of faith and if the Lord is calling you to turn something over to Him, then I encourage you to respond. The closer we walk with the Lord and become more dependent on Him, you will find that Jesus is sufficient.
